Allison* has lived in Türkiye for a few years and shares her faith in Jesus with others in her daily life.

Two friends and I sat down at a cafe beside two young women. Noticing a moment of silence in their conversation, we took the opportunity to engage with them. It turned out that they were sisters and grew up in the city we were in. Both are now studying in different cities and were home for winter break. Amazingly, one of them studies at the same university as me!

As we chatted, we learnt that uncertainty about future careers is a cause of anxiety for them. One of my friends then shared her testimony about how she faced a lot of uncertainty and disappointment regarding her career, but in the end, God directed her in the best way.

This prompted the sisters to ask questions about our faith. Right when my friend was getting into the truth about Jesus, a man at the table beside us jumped into the conversation with objections. Normally, we avoid both engaging with people who only want to argue and engaging with those of the opposite gender. We didn’t even realise he was listening to us, so for a moment, we were completely at a loss as to what to do.

However, the Holy Spirit gave my friend the wisdom she needed to calmly answer the man’s objections. As she talked with him, I picked up where she had left off with the sisters and God allowed me to share the full message of the Gospel with them. Meanwhile, our third friend, who doesn’t know the language as well, was faithfully praying for us.

The young women shared that they had never read the Bible. They’d seen many of their friends become agnostics after thinking too much about religion, and they were worried the same could happen to them. I left them with a small booklet with key passages from the Old and New Testaments and encouraged them to read it, trusting that there is a God who loves them so much and created them for Himself.

Praise God that these sisters had the chance to hear the gospel. Pray that they have the courage to read the booklet with open hearts and that God will bring more believers across their paths at university. Pray for the man's spiritual blindness to be removed so that he might know the true God. Pray for future outreaches to be filled with Spirit-led opportunities like this one.
