Logos Hope dropped anchor in five ports in Brazil in 2019, welcoming half a million visitors on board. The local OM office there, alongside OM in Brazil leader, Marcio, helped to make the visit and the follow-up a success.

Marcio recounts, "So many people were impacted by that ship visit in Brazil and we could meet [many leaders and organisations]. They got a lot of books, a lot of experiences, and many people who didn’t know about Jesus deeply in their heart… many of them accepted Jesus...”

Kleicy (Brazil), was a local who helped the advance preparation team who go ahead of the ships to prepare the visit. During the visit itself, she volunteered to serve on board and was in charge of giving ship tours to visitors.

Two years later, Kleicy chose to join Logos Hope as a long-term crewmember herself. She was placed in the community engagement department, helping to establish partnerships between the ship and local organisations within the countries visited and now, she is serving with the advance preparation team as a crewmember!

Another person impacted by the ship's visit was Anne. She was 13 when Logos Hope arrived in Santos, Brazil and visited the ship with church friends. It left a lasting impression on her, and for five years she had this dream in her heart of joining the ship one day.

She shares, "I felt like I wanted to be there. I felt something I had never felt before. God was saying that this was my future and I was very sure that this is what God wanted me to do.”

After high school she went to college, but with the dream still in her heart, she later joined OM and Director Marcio told her about the possibility of joining the three-month Short-Term Exposure Programme (STEP) on board. Anne joined the ship in Durban in May 2024 and was delighted to learn that she would be a member of the bookfair team, one of the main departments on board.

Today, a total of 22 Brazilians are part of the Logos Hope crew, with a further 11 arriving this week!

"…God has a very special path…”says Marcio. “Maybe you need an experience in a cultural environment like the ship, and after that you are more settled; more ready to go anywhere in the world. If you [travel] this path, step by step, I know that God will use you a lot," he concludes.
