The Easter message for Berlin

OM's Easter outreach in Berlin aims to tell the city's multicultural residents — who come from over 180 nations — about the saving power of the risen Jesus and to transform them through the gospel.

Two hundred participants from 14 countries took part in the 2025 Easter outreach in Berlin, Germany. Among the participants were believers from Muslim backgrounds from countries such as Türkiye, Syria and Iran who now live in Germany.

The outreach was supported by churches in Berlin. “It is always inspiring for me to see Christians from such different backgrounds, from different churches and organisations, coming together during the Berlin Easter outreach to share the Easter message in so many different ways,” said Doron Lukat, director of OM in Germany and himself a native Berliner. “Some have done this a hundred times before, others for the first time.”

Coffee and conversations

On Good Friday, participants were prepared for the street outreach activities during a training day. Otherwise, they were out on the streets and squares of the capital with members of the local churches. Music, dance, sports, activities for children, short sermons and testimonies were used to attract the attention of passers-by and offer them conversation. In addition, three mobile outreach teams worked in parks and on the streets, as well as a mobile coffee bar.

All of the outreach events led to deep conversations, during which people prayed together, received Christian literature, came into contact with Jesus followers and some even gave their lives to Jesus right there on the street!

Participant Kathi met a 'typical German craftsman' at Gesundbrunnen. "He immediately said, 'God does not exist!'" she said. "We couldn't get anywhere in the conversation, but we had great love for him. So we asked him if he had been disappointed by God. In fact, he told us that God had not answered his prayer for his parents to be healed — they died. We invited him for a coffee and were then able to pray for him."

Another participant struck up a conversation with a man from Libya at the mobile coffee bar. "He came to Germany a few years ago and comes from a Muslim family," she said. "He is still suffering from the long-term effects of an injury, and we talked for a long time. He was so open! I was able to explain to him what we believe based on Easter, and he longed to experience the love that only Jesus can give. In the end, he prayed that Jesus would come into his heart, become his Lord and forgive him all his sins. He is now looking forward to getting in touch with Christians from Berlin and is eager for them to call him."

Football games led to some good conversations for Thorsten. He said, "I met three Syrians on the football pitch. They had only recently arrived in Germany and were now learning German. I suggested that they could learn German with the Bible. In fact, I had three Kicker Bibles with testimonies from footballers with me! They gladly accepted them. Then one of them took out some perfume and sprayed me with it — as a sign of honour and gratitude."

Staying in contact

Various Berlin churches, the Protestant Alliance Berlin and Gemeinsam für Berlin (Together for Berlin), the city network for churches and Christian organisations, have taken on the responsibility to stay in contact with those interested in finding out more about God and, where desired, refer them to a small group, a church or a Bible study group. These local partners, together with OM, the evangelism and training team No Limit, the Liebenzeller Mission and Christ for All Nations, were among the more than 40 partner organisations and churches that organised the Easter outreach.

Doron Lukat said, "Now we trust that the many seeds that have been sown will sprout."

Please pray that the seeds sown last year have indeed sprouted and that those who were interested in learning more have continued to seek Jesus.

Pray for those participating in OM outreaches across the world this Easter, as teams take part in street evangelism, sports ministries, children's programmes and many other activities during this special time of the year.

Ask God to lead people to Himself through these outreaches, and that many more seeds would be planted in hearts this year.
