We are a global community of Jesus followers driven by a deep conviction that everyone deserves to hear the gospel at least once.
For over 65 years, OM teams around the world have motivated and equipped Jesus followers to share God’s love with the least reached. Today, more than 4500 OM workers representing 125 nationalities are serving or in partnership in over 147 countries, in addition to on board OM’s ships.
Over two billion people in the world today have not had the good news of Jesus presented in a way they could hear and understand. OM teams are actively working to establish vibrant communities of Jesus followers among these least-reached communities. OM defines these least reached communities into the following three categories
There has been no gospel engagement. No one is living, proclaiming and demonstrating the gospel among them, nor has there been a positive response to God’s grace in all its truth.
There has been gospel engagement, but no gospel-centred and gospel-proclaiming community of Jesus followers is present.
In order to see multiplying vibrant communities of Jesus followers (VCJF) our work includes: Extraordinary Prayer, Mobilising Boldly, Engaging Deeply, Sowing Broadly, Discipling Purposefully
Sustained, focused, intercessory prayer for the least reached is what underpins all that we do in OM.
A new, global workforce of unprecedented size is emerging, creating opportunities for a new generation of Jesus followers to live and work in communities where the gospel is not known, establishing credible, authentic relationships in Jesus’ name.
Through education, medical care, vocational training, anti-trafficking initiatives, disaster relief and more, we demonstrate God’s love for the whole person – mind, body and spirit.
We take every opportunity to provide a clear gospel presentation, using digital, emerging and legacy media to share the gospel.
We imitate Jesus and participate in holistic, Kingdom transformation of all life and creation as we cultivate a biblically just and diverse community; with strategic innovation in our ministries, we remain in mutual commitment to the cause of Christ and care for people.
We trace our roots to the prayers of an American housewife. In the 1950s, Dorothea Clapp began to pray faithfully for the students in her local High School. She asked God to touch the world through the lives of those young people. And God answered her prayers!
Successfully stewarding a multi-national organisation with an extraordinary vision requires leaders committed to excellence, innovation and servant leadership. OM is blessed with a dedicated team of executives and board members who exhibit these qualities.
