Easter provides a fantastic opportunity for cross-cultural outreach in cities across the West Midlands. Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Coventry are all large multicultural cities, with many people in least-reached communities, often from Middle Eastern and South Asian backgrounds: Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Yemeni, Indian, Afghan, Somali, and others. There are also large least-reached communities among the white British population. There are many opportunities to share the gospel with people who have never really heard it.
We are linked with churches in each city who are willing to run holiday clubs for primary school children (ages 4-11) in the week leading up to Easter. The holiday clubs will be in the mornings for 2-3 hours from Monday to Thursday, with the final session being the Easter Sunday service at the church itself.
We will split the team into three sub-teams to work with each church, alongside volunteers from the church itself. OM’s children’s ministry, Kids N Things, will provide the content for the sessions, which will cover an explanation of the gospel with a child-friendly approach.
There will also be opportunities for training and outreaches in the afternoons, as well as chances to explore the city you are in. During the week, we will also bring the whole team together for fellowship where possible.
