Guest house volunteer

We receive guests from Ireland and the world to our guest facilities at Lacken House each year. It's a place of training, retreat and fellowship. From here, we send people out all over Ireland to impact the local community. You can help us make this possible by looking after our guests, helping in daily hospitality tasks and other practical needs.

Ministry details

You'll help with the daily running of the guesthouse, preparing rooms for guests, maintaining the general areas, welcoming people in and cleaning after they leave. You'll be part of our local team, and so have plenty of opportunity to get involved in some local ministries, as well as enjoy fellowship as we work together. If this lies in your interests and giftings, there are sometimes opportunities for catering and practical maintenance work on site as well. You can join us for anything from 1 week to a few months.

This is a customisable opportunity, very suitable for a wide variety of people: from young people wanting to serve and get a taste for different ministries, to people who are retired and want to serve abroad in some capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Accommodation

You'll be staying at Lacken House. Couples will have a room or chalet for themselves, individuals might have to share a room with people from the same gender, dependent on occupancy. Lacken House is in a rural setting, there is no public transport options to and from. Bedding and towels are provided, and there are laundry facilities on site.

Food

You'll be responsible for your own meals. Team members can take you into town for shopping etc.

Travel

You'll need to fly into Ireland and take a bus to Athlone, Longford or Roscommon. We can help you find good arrangements. From there we will collect you and bring you to Lacken House. You could consider renting a car at the airport for your stay here.

Health

You'll need to be able for manual work, though there's flexibility in the schedule to manage your own time and spread out tasks if needed. If you think there might be limitations, just reach out to us and we see what might be possible.

Visa

People from outside of the EU can come in on a tourist visa up to 3 months.
