In just one week’s time, our newest ship, Doulos Hope, is set to be commissioned into service, following the completion of the vessel’s technical refit and outfitting over the past eleven months. The launch will allow people in Singapore to be the first to see and experience the ship for themselves.
Doulos Hope also provides a great opportunity for people, primarily in the 18-35 age group, to serve God overseas as volunteers and gain cross-cultural experience.
Seelan Govender, CEO of OM’s Ship Ministry said: “We’re excited for what this new chapter holds. Not only are we launching a new ship, but this also marks the commencement of a new phase of our ministry. Doulos Hope will increase our ability to invest in leadership training and holistic community engagement worldwide.”
Doulos Hope is the first vessel of a planned fleet designed to reach new regions and operate in shallower waters so that isolated and marginalised communities further inland can be reached. Like her sister ship Logos Hope, Doulos Hope is set to share knowledge, help and hope in the port communities she visits. The ship’s floating bookfair is scheduled to open to the public on 7 May in her first official port of Singapore.
Volunteer places are available on both vessels, with applications being accepted now for the next intake in September.
