Eunice, who works with OM in Pisa, Italy, shares how God uses friendships to attract people to Himself.
About a year and a half ago, a couple from our church befriended another young couple they met at language school. Both the husband and wife grew up in a somewhat orthodox context in their home country.
The wife was the first to be open to attending church events and then services. The husband, who is an atheist, was not very enthusiastic about it at first. Because of bad experiences in the past, he thought it was a bad idea to come to church.
Despite this, the wife continued to come faithfully and wished her husband would also attend. We prayed with her that God would change her husband's heart. In the meantime, we see with great joy the faith growing in this woman. She recently began reading the Bible with a lady from church and said she wants to follow Jesus. Glory to God!
We see that the Lord is also working in her husband. He is increasingly open to participating in church events and even entering the building to talk to people when waiting for his wife at the end of worship. His mother recently came to visit and participated in Sunday worship with her daughter-in-law. She was surprised that she really liked the church. We are hopeful that she, too, will one day participate in the services.
We praise the Lord, who is attracting this couple to Himself, and we thank Him for the faithful friendship that Jesus followers have shown them.
Is there someone in your life that you could invite to church?
