At the end of 2024, 19-year-old Capucine (France) took part in the Immersion R12 programme for three months in the Paris region of France to discover more about mission work. Here she describes her experience.
The Immersion R12 programme was incredibly enriching and taught me so many things as we explored different ways of serving God.
At the OM office, we helped with communication and managing social media. I had never worked in an office before, so it was a valuable learning experience. We also had training days where we deepened our knowledge of the Bible, different religions and how to share our faith. All the training sessions were great tools for sharing the good news with the people we met.
Twice a week, we went to Montreuil, where we distributed Gospels, which often led to conversations with people. We had some truly encouraging encounters and saw the fruits of our efforts! We witnessed several people attending a church service thanks to receiving a Gospel!
It was incredibly encouraging to see God's work in the Paris region and to be part of it. We distributed many Gospels, and I was always amazed to know that so many people returned home having heard the good news of the gospel.
We also did prayer walks, asking God to save this city and to guide us in every encounter.
In different youth groups and church services, we had the opportunity to talk about mission work and to raise awareness of the calling God has for each person.
I realised how much joy I had in serving God in every area, even in those where I felt less comfortable.
Each month, we had dedicated prayer days, as well as days focused on “Where are you in your relationship with God?” and “What is God's plan for my life?” We also spent a few days in Vendée, at an OM teammate’s home, where we received teachings, explored Vendée and Île de Ré and had time to rest and listen to God.
I experienced powerful and encouraging moments during these times of listening to and communing with God. He strengthened my faith, deepened my understanding of who He is and also began healing wounds from my past by teaching me to trust Him and rely on Him in all circumstances.
We went to Montélimar for a week of evangelism, working alongside the local church. During this week, we took advantage of the Halloween season to evangelise in the streets, sharing our experience and our desire to "celebrate life rather than death." Once again, we had some very moving and encouraging encounters, prayed with people and invited them to our various events.
We also led children's clubs, where we taught Bible lessons and had discussions with families. The church organised a gospel concert, and we invited the people we had met.
I had the opportunity to share my testimony during a 'coffee and croissant' service designed to welcome and introduce people to the Christian faith. I was grateful to see that an atheist couple attended after being invited at the gospel concert.
The entire programme was centred around Romans 12, offering ourselves to God. Each week, we studied a few verses from Romans 12 and every day, we read Bible passages related to those verses.
These three months were incredibly rich and allowed me to grow spiritually.
We were a multicultural team, which was both a learning experience and an adjustment. It wasn’t always easy, but it was very formative.
During this time, I realised just how much France is a mission field with enormous needs. I understood that God is calling me to full-time mission work and that I must trust Him for the plans He has for me.
