As Doulos Hope and Logos Hope journey from port to port, across Asia, the Caribbean and beyond, their crews are sharing a hope that changes lives and transforms communities ripple by ripple.
We give God the praise for these and many more stories of hope from this year. We pray that God will continue to use our crew and their community encounters, so that many more might come to know that Jesus is the hope of all the world!
The Philippines: Books of hope (1/5)

In San Fernando, Philippines, crewmembers from Doulos Hope visited a centre that cares for young girls from backgrounds of abuse and trafficking. During the visit, they donated a selection of books focused on healing, identity and restoration.
“It was my first opportunity to connect with the community on shore and God showed up,” said Shekinah (Namibia), one of the crewmembers. “These girls came from abuse and trafficking backgrounds, but that day, they encountered Him.”
As the books were handed over, crew shared stories and prayed with the girls. “The atmosphere changed,” Shekinah recalled. “His presence rested on us. One seven-year-old just stood there, eyes closed, tears streaming. It wasn’t emotionalism – it was real.”
“If even one girl reads one of the books and finds hope, I believe God will reach her,” said Shekinah.
“These girls didn’t choose their past,” she said, “but now they get to choose Hope.”
Saint Lucia: Ready for hope (2/5)

At a church in Vieux Fort, Saint Lucia, people were invited for free eyesight tests. One man hastily moved past. But something told crewmember Sarah* that she needed to speak with him.
Later, Sarah moved into the prayer room, to pray for and encourage those who came. Surprisingly, the man from outside walked in. Although he was impatient, Sarah shared about the importance of knowing Jesus. The man responded, “For me, I don’t care about knowing Christ. I just want the glasses.”
Sarah asked God, “Why is this man leaving when You spoke to me that he is supposed to hear this message?” Soon, the man returned. “Sister,” he said, “I am ready to listen.”
And this man wasn’t the only one impacted.
By the time the team left the church, out of the 91 people who came to receive glasses, 77 decided to put their hope in Jesus.

Carriacou: Restoring hope (3/5)

In July 2024, Hurricane Beryl caused mass destruction across the island of Carriacou. After a two-hour ferry ride from Grenada, a team from Logos Hope arrived on the island, where they stayed for one week. They visited schools, distributed resources and spent time connecting with locals and handing out copies of the Gospel of John for encouragement.
For Tamara (Mexico), it was difficult to see the aftermath of the hurricane. “I felt like we had come to an unfinished place,” she shared. “One woman told me that she doesn’t receive any help to rebuild her home... The hurricane took everything from her.”
The woman gratefully accepted clothing donations for herself and her children, and Tamara was given the opportunity to pray and bless her and her family.
British Virgin Islands: Hope breaking new ground (4/5)

Access to books on the British Virgin Islands became difficult for residents after Hurricane Dorian in 2019. Anthony, a local businessman was trying to find a way to get more books there. He remembered his visit to former OM ship, Logos II, as a child with his cousin.
They reached out to Logos Hope and, with the government also supporting the vision, together, they were able to bring Logos Hope to the British Virgin Islands for the first time ever.
“I think ship visits take months of preparation and through God’s grace we got this done in a matter of weeks,” Anthony said.
During only five days in port and with a population of 39,000 people, more than 13,500 visitors stepped on board.
And with less access to literature, over 32,800 books were bought and donated to the community!
Cambodia: Seeds of hope (5/5)

A local man stepped on board Doulos Hope and began sharing about his success, his clubs and cafés. “I make a lot of money,” he said. “I run everything: cigarettes, alcohol, drugs...”
But when crewmember Godfrey (East Asia) offered him a tour of Doulos Hope, something shifted. As he walked, his tone softened. As they continued to connect and learn more about each other, the man opened up and shared his history. Tears began to fall.
Godfrey reminded him, “True hope doesn’t come from power or money, but from God’s love.” He returned to the ship several times, expressing how much the connection meant to him.
