Requirements

Shop manager for second-hand store

Lead with purpose – become our second-hand shop manager!

Do you want a job that combines leadership, creativity, and mission? Our second-hand shop is more than a store - it’s a platform to reach out to immigrants with the gospel, build friendships, and create a welcoming community. The income from the shop supports mission projects around the world, so every sale makes a difference!

Right now, the shop needs new energy and vision to grow. We’re looking for someone who can develop the shop, attract visitors, and lead a small team of volunteers toward this exciting mission.

Position: Shop Manager

Location: Tinnheia in Kristiansand

Commitment: Full time or Part time

About the Role:

As a Shop Manager for our second-hand shop, you will take the lead in transforming the store into a vibrant meeting place. You’ll work to make the shop well-known in the community, create opportunities to share the gospel with immigrants, and ensure that the shop’s income continues to support global projects.

In addition, you will be able to engage in our local ministry in OM Norway. Besides being a sending field, OM Norway is now deeply involved in reaching out to immigrants and refugees living in Norway. Weekly activities for our team involve teaching Norwegian in our language school (three days a week), language cafés separate for men and women, Discovery Bible Studies and prayer meetings. Every month we have a gathering of Muslim families in our homes, and every year we arrange a free children’s camp for local kids. We are in a pioneering work of church planting, always seeking new ways of reaching out to the community.

Key responsibilities:

· Develop and grow the shop: Create strategies to increase visibility and attract customers. Many are immigrants learning Norwegian.

· Coordinate volunteers: Organize schedules, motivate, and support a diverse team of volunteers. Many are immigrants learning Norwegian.

· Marketing & outreach: Find innovative ways to promote the shop through social media, local events, and partnerships.

· Operational management: Oversee daily operations, ensure excellent customer service, and maintain a welcoming atmosphere.

· Community engagement: Build relationships with donors, customers, and local organizations.

· Mission engagement: Keep the mission at the heart of everything: reaching people with the gospel and supporting global projects.

Qualifications:

· Strong leadership and organizational skills

· Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds

· Creative mindset for marketing and shop development

· Good communication skills (Norwegian and English preferred)

· Passion for sharing the gospel and building relationships

· Experience in retail or management is an advantage but not required

We are looking for you who:

· Are passionate about Jesus, sustainability, and community

· Enjoy working in a multicultural environment

· Have a heart for missions and a desire to see people from the least reached people groups come to Christ and be discipled

· Are visionary, organized, proactive and comfortable working independently

· Can inspire and lead volunteers with empathy and enthusiasm

· Want to make a real difference — locally and globally

· Are willing to learn Norwegian

We offer:

· A meaningful role in a vibrant community project

· Opportunity to shape and grow the shop

· Supportive team environment

Why join us?

Your leadership and creativity will have a global impact – helping people finding their own gifting as they find Jesus too. You’ll be part of OM Norway’s team, small now, but hopefully growing very soon, living and working alongside people from all over the world.

This is not a paid position; financial support will need to be raised for life on the field.
